Discover how archaeology at historic Sylvester Manor on Shelter Island reveals the stories of Black, Indigenous, and European communities who lived and worked there over the past four centuries. Supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, Dr. Nedra Lee will share how archeological findings help uncover the ways people of African, Native, and European descent interacted, adapted, and shaped one another’s worlds—creating a complex, interconnected history that continues to influence our lives today.
